If you look in the mirror and see wrinkles, this can be disheartening. Fortunately, there are treatments that are available for you that can help you see no wrinkles or fewer wrinkles when you look in the mirror. You should see a dermatologist to get these treatments. Below is information about two of them to help you decide what would work best for you.

Botox Injections

A common treatment for wrinkles is getting Botox injections. Botox is a type of toxin but is not near enough to hurt you. It works by preventing muscles from contracting. This will diminish your wrinkles or make them go away completely. Botox is not painful, but you may feel a prick when the needle is inserted. The doctor can use an anesthetic cream on your skin if you want.

Botox injections work well for different types of wrinkles. For example, it can help with wrinkles around your eyes, which are often called crow's feet. It can also help with wrinkles on your forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows, and more. The dermatologist will decide if Botox will be right for the type of wrinkles that you have. If not, they can recommend other treatments. Botox does not last forever, however. The dermatologist that you see can tell you how long this is.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is another option for you. If you would like to do this along with Botox, you have to do this a few weeks before you get Botox or a few weeks after you get the Botox injections. The dermatologist uses a special laser over the wrinkles. This laser creates small holes in your skin. This makes your body heal these small wounds which creates collagen buildup. Collagen is needed to keep your skin young. Once it starts to build up your wrinkles will go away.

Laser skin resurfacing helps with fine lines and wrinkles, as well as sagging skin, helps reduce brown spots, and can make scarring such as from acne, look much less noticeable. Different types of lasers can be used for laser skin resurfacing with one affecting the top layer of skin and another going deeper. The dermatologist will explain both to you to help you choose. The laser that goes deeper does result in better results, however, so this is something to consider. It also requires more downtime, as it will take your skin more time to heal.
